Acknowledging that Covid-19 continues to change the tourism landscape, organizations and charities like Canadian Lighthouses of Lake Superior Inc. need to adapt.
CLLS is undertaking a strategic plan to benefit the public in the future. The Board of Director has selected Karen Jones Consulting, who’s recently been working to promote tourism and economic development in the region, to develop a plan.

We look forward to working with community partners, stakeholders and members to gather ideas and feedback so together we can successfully drive results.”
The Canadian Lighthouses of Lake Superior received funding to develop a strategic plan through a contribution agreement with Parks Canada’s Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area and leveraged funding from the Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission (CEDC) and Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) Program administered through Tourism Thunder Bay.
The CEDC MAT funding is flowed through the product development stream to support projects that promote Thunder Bay as destination for out-of-town visitors to generate overnight overstays and visitor spending in the City of Thunder Bay.
The funds will help to connect members, potential visitors and local citizens to programming at four lighthouses on Lake Superior including the renovated Porphyry Lighthouse and Thunder Bay Main Lighthouse in Thunder Bay Harbour.
The Strategic & Sustainability report will be presented in early fall.
