Boathouse Folk School Creative Workshops

Tap into your creative side

Our newest program on Porphyry Island is a series of creative opportunities that we call our Boathouse Folk School series, based out of our historic boat house at the island’s harbour.

Our pilot program begins on Saturday, July 4 (9:00 am to 4:30 pm) with a glass mosaic art workshop.  Local glass artist, Ayla Ludwig will guide you through all the steps to create your very own piece of framed glass art featuring a lighthouse, the sleeping giant or a nature motif. You can even incorporate some porphyry pebbles or beach glass into your design as a memento of your time on the island!

Cost: $245 per person, includes charter boat ride from Silver Islet, workshop instruction, supplies, and some delicious baking!  Click here to register!

Next in the Boathouse Folk School series, join local woodcarver, Peter Moule of Hockleycrest Spoon Co. on Friday, July 17 (9:00 am to 4:30 pm) for a day of careful carving to transform a piece of birch wood into a beautiful handcrafted spreading knife

Cost: $220 per person, includes charter boat ride from Silver Islet, workshop instruction, supplies, and some delicious baking!  Click here to register!

Space is limited so be sure to register early – these experiences would make amazing Mother’s Day or Father’s Day gifts!
