Speaker’s Series 2026

Join Canadian Lighthouses of Lake Superior for the Speaker Series at the Thunder Bay Museum on March 22 at 2pm, free entry, refreshments & books and memberships for purchase. Topic will be focused on Thunder Cape Lighthouse and Thunder Cape Bird Observatory operated by Thunder Bay Field Naturalists, featuring guest speaker Al Harris.

If you are interested in children’s books featuring local birds, like the majestic Great Blue Heron, and learning how to make pigments of local plants, four time Host Keeper extraordinaire, Karin Mackenzie, has kindly shared some copies of her latest book, “The Little Girl and the Great Bird” with illustrations by Abbi Buckley, and are available for sale ($40).

Thunder Bay Museum welcomes you to visit the newly laucnhed “Small Scale: Tall Tale” exhibition of Lakehead Shipbuilding history.

There will be a second talk on April 12 to feature the stories of the Kerr family of lighthouse keepers, also 2-4pm at Thunder Bay Museum.
