Spring Clean-Up

Spring Clean-up! It is a time to bring people together to prepare Porphyry and Trowbridge Island Lightstations for the season. Its lots of fun and includes a BBQ at the end for the Porphyry experience.

June 1st., 2024 Porphyry Clean-up (last departure 11am)

June 15th., Trowbridge Clean-up

The annual clean-up is only part the volunteer experiences. The clean up brings together friends, family, hikers & boaters for a day of preserving and protecting lighthouse history. Volunteers help prepare the light station.

Departing from Silver Islet, Volunteers travel in the morning aboard Archie’s Fishing Charters & Lighthouse Tours. Volunteers will be presented with some tasks to complete after a safety orientation. Work can for example include; clearing brush, and sometimes building stuff. There’s some time of your own to explore the island. Thanks to all our great Volunteers!

A breakdown for volunteers.

Purpose
To contribute to the vitality and sustainability of lighthouse operations To participate in a specific short-term task for the betterment of the historical site.

Responsibilities
To contribute skills and talents to a specific on-site project Liaise with Managing Director re project implementation.

Reporting
Under the direction of the Managing Director In accordance with the health & safety and other key policies of CLLS.

Training and Oreintation
Review roles and responsibilities of people involved in the project, provided with project orientation on-site.

In Advance
Review Health & Safety Policies.

What is Provided
Subsidized transportation – $40, Silver Islet to Porphyry Island or Trowbridge. A BBQ will be provided at Porphyry.
