Day Trips to Porphyry Island
From June to mid-September we offer scenic a journey from Silver Islet (just over an hour’s drive from Thunder Bay) every Thursday and Sunday starting late June and ending mid September with Archie’s Fishing Charters and Lighthouse Tours. They’d make a great add-on to any visit to Sleeping Giant Provincial Park!
Tours on Lake Superior include a chance to glimpse the historic Silver Islet Mine (weather permitting) and breathtaking views the entire journey. Upon arrival at Porphyry Island, you can request a guided interpretive tour from one of our summer staff or volunteers: perfect for nature lovers and history buffs alike.
Lighthouse Trail Discovery Tour
Step aboard Sail Superior’s Zodiac RHIB for a full-day adventure. Beginning in the morning at the marina in Thunder Bay, you’ll visit several iconic lighthouses, including a stop at Porphyry Island.
