Host Keepers
A way to contribute a helping hand
Canadian Lighthouses of Lake Superior has been restoring and promoting lighthouses since 2012, ensuring they are available for public appreciation for generations.
Our Host Keeper program is a way to contribute to this important work. Host Keepers volunteer 4 hours per day towards site maintenance tasks such as those on this list. Skilled volunteers can even propose a special project such as building picnic tables to enhance the site for visitors.
For 2026, Host Keepers can volunteer for 4 days, 5 days or 8 days in length in July and August. Cost is $110 to cover the Charter boat transportation to Porphyry Island from Silver Islet plus $30/night for a private room in our shared staff residence. Volunteers are expected to bring their own food for the duration of their stay. A food order from a local grocery store may be picked-up by our staff if you are coming from out of town.
Applications will be accepted until midnight May 20 or until vacancies are filled.
