Located on the Lake Superior’s North Channel, 55 km east of Thunder Bay, the No. 10 Lighthouse is a popular destination for recreational kayakers & boaters. The locals affectionately call it the Shaganash Light. The island boasts several amenities, including walking trail and picnic tables, as well as an outhouse. Recently, the Canadian LIghthouses of Lake Superior took ownership of the lighthouse property, which was transferred from the Government of Canada as a surplus light. The light tower interior is available to tour only when CLLS staff or volunteers are present. The tower was constructed of wood in 1922 and was automated in 1954, after the original lighthouse and tower burnt down in 1921. Future amenities are planned for the 2024 season.
