Thunder Bay Main

First lighthouse was constructed 1887 by the Canadian Pacific railway but later demolished and moved. Today’s lighthouse sits on Thunder Bay’s break water.

When constructed just after the WW II, the light was called the Port Arthur Central Entrance. The port today continues to accommodate ships from around the world. Work has just been completed by the Coast Guard with fresh paint. The light, dock, grounds and break water is strictly off limits to all vessels as this is an aid to navigation only and not a stopping place.
